Alexandra McNair is Head of Legal at the Financial Markets Authority (Te Mana Tātai Hokohoko), where she leads the legal function and works closely with the Fintech and Innovation team to advance the FMA’s strategic focus on fostering innovation and enabling a more dynamic financial services ecosystem in Aotearoa New Zealand. Originally from Hastings, Alexandra holds degrees in law and history from the University of Otago. Her career spans both private practice and in-house roles within the financial services sector, including experience in London. She joined the FMA in 2015 after returning to Aotearoa, drawn by the organisation’s evolving mandate, strong sense of public purpose, and collaborative culture. Outside of work, Alexandra enjoys exploring Tāmaki Makaurau with her partner and their young daughters.
