Chas Gunaratne is a tech finance executive and fractional CFO with over 16 years of experience supporting high-growth, venture-backed companies across New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and the United States. He partners closely with founders and leadership teams to build scalable finance functions, strengthen governance, and drive sustainable growth from early stage through to Series C and beyond.

As Founding Partner and Principal Consultant at Kotuku Consulting, Chas delivers CFO-level strategic leadership alongside hands-on finance execution—spanning financial strategy, capital raising, and end-to-end finance infrastructure. He brings deep sector experience across fintech, AI/ML, MedTech, EdTech, BioTech, SaaS, blockchain, gaming, and emerging technologies.

Chas is particularly known for helping companies unlock non-dilutive capital through R&D tax credits and grants, having supported clients in securing over $25 million in funding to accelerate innovation and growth.

He began his career at Ernst & Young (EY) and is a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ), bringing a strong foundation in accounting, audit, and advisory to the fast-moving world of technology and digital assets.
